A Devastating Turn of Events in the Paper Ball War
I could hear the hushed voice of the enemy just beyond my cubicle wall. Several paperballs lay strewn about me, the enemy had been attacking hard. I scooped them up and piled them on my desk. Quite a haul, 8 in all.
One by one I pitched them over the wall, certain I had hit my target on several throws. It grew silent. I waited for the enemy to retaliate. Nothing. I sat, wondering.
I see the top of my enemy's head as he stands and makes the long treck around the wall. I expect to see Joe walk past, laughing like usual.
It was not Joe!
It was the new engineer guy we had hired a couple of weeks ago. I don't even know the guy! I am so embarrassed. So, I say to Julie 'OMG! I just threw a bunch of paperballs over at Joe and it wasn't even Joe over there! How embarrassing! I don't even know who the guy was!' It was at this point that he decides to walk past one more time.
War, such an ugly thing. So many innocent casualties. LOL
