Do you really put a wooden spigot in a tree and syrup comes out????????
Yes, we make maple syrup in the spring time. We've advanced beyond the spigot in the tree thing. Most of the taps are connected by tubes that all lead to big containers by the sap house. The boiling and everything is still done over a wood fire though. This spring I'll be sure to include at least one post that goes over the process with pictures. We do get licensed by the FDA and sell it, but it's mostly just a family hobby.
