Teletubbies
Am I the only one out there creeped out by these things?
This morning I sat and watched a few PBS programs with Thomas and these things freaked me out. First of all, they don't talk. They hum and make weird noise. The narrator does all the talking. Second of all, they look weird. What's with the television in the stomach? How is that even close to being endearing. Third, and last, where is the plot to the show? What type of lesson is learned?
So, I sat there while he watched them, and he absolutely loves them. He laughed, he became excited, he kept pointing at the tv and saying "tubbies mom, tubbies". I felt as though I was missing out on something.

Never been a fan. The only ones I can stand anymore are Jimmy Neutron, Kim Possible, the x's, and sometimes Sponge (although they need new episodes.) I really need a life...lol...
Thomas' current favorite is the one with the trains. He loves Thomas the Tank Engine.
Hey - how's "Life Expectancy" going?
I am VERY creeped out by the Teletubbies. What freaks me out the most was how my little boy used to be just mesmerized by them. His hypnotic stupor scared the hell out of me and I refused to let him watch it ever again.
sherri..Love it that Thomas was narrated for a while by George Carlin...how bad did he need a buck??
Teletubbies are from the Devil.
it's that simple.
:)
I remember reading a story about one of the 'actors' being fired for having um... a lil too much fun on set with a girlfriend.... lol
Happy New Year all!
JCW
I've never watched them but the ads for the videos creep me out.
phoenix, I came very close to turning it off myself. I started mulling around theories in my head about the weird things, theories that would make me sound crazy if I said them out loud. LOL
Thomas, how about the fact that Ringo Star narrated them for a while too! When he first came out Zachary was just a little guy and Ringo was the conductor.
JCW, I read something somewhere about the teletubbies being gay. I'm glad you mentioned that, it ads an even more sinister twist to the tubbies! LOL
crazy me, consider yourself lucky. :D
youare not alone. they are totally creepy. i banned them fromthe house when my otherwise literate children began speaking inbaby talk after watching. pointless, insipid, mind numbing drivel disguised as educational..aaaaaaaack!!! worse yet are the boobahs. they just spin around and bash into each other.
lime, I've never heard of a boobah, and quite frankly, I'm glad! I didn't think there could be anything worse then a teletubby, I was way wrong.
Thomas the Tank Engine is the best!
I had no idea you were a fan of Thomas the Tank Engine! :D
I didn't really realize how popular the name Thomas was until after I named my little guy. It fits him though, he's a Thomas through and through.
The Teletubbies are worse than Barney.
